Caretaker

In shipping, a Caretaker is a person or company responsible for taking care of a ship during a period of inactivity or when the ship is laid up. This may include routine maintenance, repairs, and ensuring the ship remains secure and safe while it is not in use. 

Caretakers may be hired by ship owners or operators to oversee the maintenance and security of their vessels during periods when they are not being actively used, such as during a period of low demand or when the ship is undergoing repairs or maintenance. Caretakers are responsible for ensuring that the ship is kept in good condition, and they may also be responsible for hiring and supervising a crew to carry out maintenance and other tasks.
