What does Bareboat Charter mean?
Bareboat charter, also known as a demise charter, is a contractual agreement in the logistics and shipping industry where the charterer leases a vessel from the shipowner without crew, provisions, or technical support. In a bareboat charter, the charterer assumes full responsibility for the operation, crewing, and maintenance of the vessel for a specified period. The charterer has control over the vessel’s operations and is responsible for all associated costs, including fuel, port expenses, crew wages, and insurance.
