What is a Container Ship?

A container ship is a type of cargo ship that is designed to transport large numbers of standardized shipping containers over long distances. Container ships are among the largest vessels in the world and are the backbone of the global shipping industry.

Container ships are typically equipped with large, rectangular cargo holds that are designed to accommodate standard-sized containers. These containers are loaded onto the ship using specialized equipment, such as cranes or gantries, and are secured in place using lashing systems to prevent movement during transit.

The size of container ships has increased dramatically over the years, with some of the largest vessels now capable of carrying more than 20,000 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) of cargo. These ships are powered by large engines and are capable of cruising at high speeds, allowing them to transport goods quickly and efficiently across long distances.
