Stevedoring Gangs Charges for Delay/Cancellation, also known as demurrage and dispatch charges, are essential components of maritime logistics and shipping operations. These charges are applied when there are delays or cancellations in the loading or unloading of cargo at a port. 

Demurrage Charges 

Demurrage charges are incurred when cargo remains at the port beyond the stipulated time agreed upon in the shipping contract. This delay could be caused by various factors, including congestion at the port, inadequate documentation, or slow clearance procedures. Demurrage charges are calculated based on the number of days or hours a cargo remains at the port beyond the allowed “free time.”  

Dispatch charges 

Dispatch charges, on the other hand, work in the opposite manner. They are applied when cargo is loaded or discharged from the vessel faster than the agreed-upon time frame. Also, the charges act as an incentive for stevedoring gangs and port operators to work efficiently.
