What is Less Than Container Load (LCL)?

Less Than Container Load (LCL) is a type of cargo shipment in which multiple customers ship their goods in a single container. Each customer’s goods are loaded into the container and are shipped to the same port of destination.

The goods are then unloaded, sorted, and re-loaded onto another container for delivery to the individual customers. This is a cost-effective way to ship smaller shipments as the customers share the cost of the container instead of paying for a full container.
