Forwarders Certificate of Receipt

A Forwarder’s Certificate of Receipt (FCR) serves as a crucial link between the shipper, the freight forwarder, and the consignee, providing essential information about the cargo’s receipt and initial handling in the logistics process. 

The FCR primarily acknowledges the receipt of the cargo by the freight forwarder. It includes details such as the date of receipt, the names and addresses of both the shipper and the consignee, and a description of the goods received. Also, it may outline the responsibilities and obligations of the freight forwarder regarding the cargo. This can include a commitment to handling the goods with care, storing them securely, and arranging their transportation to the designated destination.  

However, the FCR is not a negotiable document and does not transfer title or ownership of the goods. Instead, it serves as evidence that the freight forwarder has taken possession of the cargo on behalf of the shipper.
