It represents a 40-foot-long shipping container, which is one of the standard sizes used in containerized shipping. The FEU is a convenient way to compare the capacity of different container sizes. For example, a 20-foot container is referred to as a Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit (TEU), and its capacity is half of an FEU.
