What is FOD ABS?

FOD ABS stands for “Free On Board Airport/Airline Container Base Station.” It refers to a shipping term used primarily in airfreight transportation. FOD ABS indicates that the seller’s responsibility for the goods ends when the cargo is delivered and loaded onto an airline container base station at the airport. From that point onward, the buyer becomes responsible for the shipment, including the costs and risks associated with further transportation, customs clearance, and final delivery to the destination.

FOD ABS is one of the variations of the “Free on Board” (FOB) Incoterms, which define the respective responsibilities and costs of buyers and sellers in international trade.
