Surrendering ownership or responsibility of something voluntarily.
What is Abandonment?
In logistics, abandonment refers to the act of voluntarily relinquishing ownership, possession, or control over cargo, goods, or shipments. It can occur when a consignee or owner decides not to take delivery of the goods due to various reasons such as damage, loss, financial constraints, or changes in requirements.
Abandonment may also happen when goods are left unattended or unclaimed for an extended period, and the responsible party no longer intends to retrieve or utilize them. In logistics, the process of abandonment involves proper documentation, notification to relevant parties, and adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.
