What is a Care Label?

A Care Label in shipping refers to a label attached to a shipment that provides information on how to handle and transport the goods safely. The label usually includes symbols or text that indicate the appropriate handling, storage, and transportation requirements for the specific type of goods being shipped.

Care Labels are especially important for goods that require special handling, such as hazardous materials, fragile items, or perishable goods. The label may indicate that the goods need to be kept at a specific temperature, kept away from sunlight, or handled with special equipment.

Care Labels are typically required by law and are regulated by various international organizations, such as the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Shippers are responsible for ensuring that their shipments are properly labeled with the appropriate Care Label, and failure to do so can result in fines or other penalties.
