What is a Deferred Rebate?
In shipping, a Deferred Rebate is a type of incentive offered by shipping companies or carriers to their customers who meet certain criteria or conditions. These rebates are typically offered as a percentage of the freight charges and are credited back to the customer’s account after the end of a specified period, such as a month, quarter or year.
Deferred Rebates are usually offered to encourage customers to ship larger volumes, to use a particular shipping route or carrier, or to meet certain quality or service standards. The rebate may also be based on factors such as the customer’s creditworthiness, payment history or loyalty to the carrier.
