What is the Original Bill of Lading (OBL)?

The Original Bill of Lading (OBL) is a legal document that serves as evidence of ownership of goods and the contract of carriage between the shipper and the carrier. It is a physical document that must be presented to take possession of the goods. The OBL contains information about the shipment, such as the description of the goods, the names of the shipper and consignee, the port of loading and discharge, and the terms and conditions of the contract of carriage.
